Welcome to (the "Site"). The webpages available at the Site are owned and operated by Kanu Hawaii ("Kanu"). Kanu is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information that you provide to us when using the Site and any or all of its services (the "Services"). This Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information received about you.

We may collect personally identifiable information from you that may include your name, zip code, e-mail address, and other information to authenticate users and to send notifications relating to the Services. We also automatically collect data on the website links or other channels that brought you to the Site, which allow us to send notifications relating to the Services. Kanu may also collect other profile data including but not limited to: gender, age, interests and occupation in order to assist users in finding and communicating with each other. We do not, however, knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen. In addition, we may conduct occasional surveys. These surveys are entirely voluntary and you may easily decline to participate. Furthermore, we automatically collect non-personally identifiable IP addresses and Web site usage information from you when you visit the Site and use the Services.

We may use information: (i) for the purposes for which you specifically provided the information, (ii) to send you e-mails or notifications only relating to Kanu unless you have opted out of receiving such e-mail or notifications, (iii) to customize e-mails or notifications we send you to make them more relevant to your interests unless you have opted out of receiving such e-mail or notifications, (iv) to recognize and reward activity on the Kanu website, (v) to enhance existing features or develop new features, products and services, and (vi) to provide advertisers and other third parties with aggregate (non-personally identifiable) information about our user base and usage patterns.

We will not share your personally identifiable information outside of Kanu unless you "opt in" to having your personally identifiable information shared with a company that is not affiliated with us. However, we may disclose and use personally identifiable information in special circumstances where we believe that disclosure is necessary: (1) to conform to legal requirements or to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other legal process received by Kanu, whether or not a response is required by applicable law; (2) to enforce the Kanu Terms of Use Agreement or to protect our rights; or (3) to protect the safety of members of the public and users of the service.

User Profile information including members' pictures and names are displayed to people in order to facilitate user interaction in the Kanu community. Email addresses may be used for the purposes of inviting new people to join Kanu, to send member-to-member private messages, to invite users to members' groups, and to send notifications related to the service. With the exception of inviting friends, adding friends, and notifications, a user's email address is not shared or displayed to people within a user's personal network. Kanu may also use a user's email address to send updates, a newsletter or news regarding the service.

The wiki and comments functions of the Site allow you to post your own information and to comment on what others have to say. Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily post public information, that information can be accessed by the public and can in turn be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications.

We use cookies to allow you to move quickly through our site, to recognize repeat visitors and to allow you to take advantage of some of our site's special features. A cookie is a string of information that is sent by a Web site and stored on your hard drive or temporarily in your computer's memory. Cookies are small files (just a few hundred bytes) and won't pose any significant disk-space concerns. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by Kanu only and does not cover the use of cookies or web beacons by any third-parties.

The Services may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that Kanu is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information.

Members who no longer wish to receive updates or notifications may opt out in their user profile "Account Settings". All notification emails and e-newsletters also include the above instructions for opting-out of those communications in the future.

Kanu member accounts are secured by member-created passwords. Kanu takes precautions to insure that member account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect member information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to member information to those employees who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel and technical staff. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of member account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of member information at any time.

From time to time we may make changes to our privacy policy If we make changes, we will post them on our site to make users aware of what the changes are so users will always be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and when we may disclose it. A user is bound by any minor changes to the policy when she or he uses the site after those changes have been posted. If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify by posting a notice on our Site for 30 days.

If you have any questions about this privacy statement, the practices of this site, or your dealings with this Web site, please contact us.
