Kanu Hawaii May 2013 report to members.
Aloha! Born and raised in Kapahulu `Oahu, I live in Papakolea with my husband and two sons. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii at Manoa (BEd and MLIS), I currently work at Punahou School as an Archivist and am the Assistant Director of PUEO (Partnerships in Unlimited Educational Opportunties), an innovative and exciting public-private school partnership that inspires and equips middle-school students toward successfully obtaining a higher education experience.
I love being surrounded by majestic mountains only minutes from the ocean. I love hearing, seeing and being able to speak `olelo makuahine (our mother tongue...Hawaiian language) I love that the common values, many of us share and were given by our kupuna (ancestors); Aloha `aina, Ha`aha`a, Laulima, Lokahi (Use a Hawaiian dictionary to look those words up) are still practiced today. I love that our diversity allows us to combine many ethnic practices in single events...ever been to a true potluck or a local wedding with Hawaiian food, Japanese mochi as table favors and a Chinese dragon dance?
My greatest interest and commitment is raising my two sons. Beyond that, I volunteer as a Board member for Kanu Hawai`i , Hakipu`i Learning Center and actively participate in "Kukulu Ke Ea A Kanaloa" the restoration of Kaho`olawe.

Next steps:-Cut and combine salad veggies.-Cut and combine dressing ingredients. Add hawaiian salt and honey to taste.Serves 10-15 people.Wow! It actually worked and tasted ‘ono. I took a leap of faith to make this and got a few complements too.
Step One: Join my co-workers to commit to eating 100% local lunches this week.Step Two: Pick one day to make my dish but eat all week for free!Step Three: Realize that (OMG) today is my day to make the green salad for the group and rush to the store (because I havenʻt grown anything at...
