About me

Josh Levinson is a principal of 3Point, a public interest research and consulting firm. Josh comes to 3Point following two years of service with the Governor of the State of Hawaii, Neil Abercrombie, as Field Organizer for the Abercrombie for Governor Campaign and the Governor’s Director of Communications.

Until 2010, Josh was President and CEO of Community Links Hawaii, a nonprofit incubator, which provided technical assistance in accounting, human resources management, risk management, grant management, and other back office support--as well as capacity building activities such as strategic planning, board development, and fundraising strategy.

Prior to joining Community Links Hawaii, Josh was Deputy Director at the District of Columbia’s premier public interest advocacy organization, the DC Appleseed Center for Law and Justice. During his five years at DC Appleseed, Josh managed several major public policy initiatives and DC Appleseed’s highly-regarded communications program, played a major role in fundraising efforts, and was responsible for the day-to-day management of DC Appleseed’s office, including budgeting and human resources.

Josh moved from Hawai`i after graduating from Punahou School to attend Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, majoring in English. At Duke Josh worked as an editorial assistant at Duke University Press and as a research assistant at the Center for Documentary Studies.

After Duke, Josh worked in public radio production at Marketplace Productions in Los Angeles, producers of the business programs Marketplace and the Marketplace Morning Report. From public radio, Josh returned to North Carolina for a Master of Arts in Folklore at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Josh is on the advisory boards of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Hawaii and the Hawaii Fashion Incubator, and has served in the Entrepreneurs-in-Residence program at Punahou School.
