Gardening with your Children/Grandchildren

Apr 25, 2009

Since I have downsized from a 3 story, 3 bedroom Town home to a small cottage in Kuli'ou'ou Valley, I have learned the joys of planting my own vegetables, fruits and herbs. It is a wonderful opportunity to relax outside when I get home from work, rather than plopping down in front of the TV,or going on to the internet. My grandson and I walk around our small yard and check our fruits, flowers, herbs and vegetables to see how much they have grown and which ones are ripe for consumption. It is an awesome way to teach children to see what the A'ina can do, when you provide water and love. The taste of our cherry tomatoes and strawberries is amazingly sweet and juicy. You don't need an acre of land to do this...just a small area, with some rich soil and starter plants from Home Depot and VOILA!!!!
