Once Hilo's best kept secret, now you best make a reservation if you want to enjoy Miyo's popular family-style Japanese cuisine. It's an establishment where the percentage of locally grown ingredients runs high year-round, with most of the salad fixings coming from Miyo's property in Upper Kaumana. Located in the Waiakea Villas, Hilo, Miyo's is a bit tricky to find but once you've beaten a path there you will surely return for more fresh fish, tempura vegetables and homegrown greens. Miyo does lunch from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner service from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
