Giving the gift of historical knowledge

Dec 10, 2010 by Brandon Hayashi | Story Popularity: 1

The old adage goes: knowledge is this Christmas, how about passing on some of that power to those whom you care for?

The Post Carbon Institute released a very interesting and easy-to-follow video entitled "The Ultimate Roller Coaster Ride: An Abbreviated History of Fossil Fuels."

Similar in its approach to the "Story of Stuff," this video uses drawings to show the past 300 years of humans harnessing energy from natural resources in about 300 seconds. But it's not just about energy or greenhouse gases. It shows the pervasiveness and interconnectedness of how energy has truly become a part of us as humans living in the 21st century.

After 5 minutes and 38 seconds, it left me pondering a number of things. It also made me want to do more research on numerous historical events and people...

Knowledge is power; and power can be knowledge too.
