I have to admit, before this morning it never occurred to me that my grocery store would have a website.
We met with the folks at Foodland today to talk about the upcoming Eat Local Challenge. Foodland was one of our biggest partners in the Challenge last year and we're exploring some exciting new ways to get local food into the hands of local people this September.
I learned a great deal in this meeting - not only does Foodland have a website, but they have a weekly video section that features virtual tours of the local farms they source from - how fabulous! Next time I'm in the produce aisle I'll be able to imagine the land and the people that made that box of tomatoes I'm holding. I love it.
It was a great meeting - I have to say, these folks are the real deal, they even had the "battle scars" (ok, really just scratches) to show from a recent day of helping out with planting at MA'O Organic Farms.
As a side note, they have a "vote for your favorite poke" poll going on right now on their Facebook page - where you can vote for the Foodland store that makes the best poke, and which one is your favorite. I wonder which of them are 100% local?
