Stopped by Whole Foods today to pick-up a few items and remembered that the Eat Local Challenge was starting soon. I was still trying to figure out what would be my family's "first step" into accepting and living the challenge.

At check-out, there was a promotion to donate $1 or $5 to schools that want to start up a garden program. How fitting to begin the Eat Local Challenge by investing in our keiki! I verified that the money donated stays in Hawaii and was told that schools that want to participate in the program will need to sign-up with Whole Foods and then three will be chosen.

So as you ponder on how to make an impact, just go for it and start where it can sometimes "hurt" the most...your wallet and participate in supporting a school garden!
