Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Repeat

Consider your purchase habits. Does everything you purchase have to be Brand New? Can you make do with a second-hand item?

When shopping choose products that are less-packaged or in recyclable wrapping. I refuse to purchase most items that comes in any type of plastic.

Instead of that monthly magazine subscription, how about an online subscription. The same with newspaper.

Just say 'No' to one time use disposables when you buy your take out. Carry your own reusable utensils.

Donate clothing you no longer want to your local thrift store. These will get a new life to someone who needs it and it will keep from ending up in the landfill.

Compost your food items, or donate to a pig farmer.

We have 4 large stow-away containers for separating our recyclables, one for Paper, Plastic, Metal/Aluminum & Card Board. When the containers are full, these recyclables are taken to the County Recycle bins.

We also make sure we take advantage of Electronic recycling for our broken small electronic appliances whenever the County does their drives.

Anything and everything we can do to lessen our trash out put is better for our Aina, our environment and the future for our Keiki's.

It's so good to hear stories from others who won't by due to packaging excess. I think there are more of us all the time. Impressively small waste!
