From the official press release:
Green is in! These days, people are constantly looking for ways to reduce reuse, and recycle…from switching to solar power to taking the bus to work instead of driving, eco-savvyness is in. One local company that has made the switch to be more eco-friendly and give back to the community is The Wedding Café, Honolulu's premier wedding resource center. They have switched to biodegradable take out products and have even gotten their staff involved to create a better lifestyle by making small commitments such as using recycled paper when printing at home and saying "no thanks" to plastic bags.If you're on Oahu on August 12th, please join us. Proceeds will help us match our initial Omidyar Family Fund challenge grant, and you'll also get to experience the positive power of local entrepreneurs. What amazes us about Tanna (oh, and Bryson too), is her complete dedication to local entrepreneurs, particularly young women, and her passion for introducing more people to causes that benefit the community and the environment in ways that are always 100% fun.

On August 12, 2008, The Wedding Café will officially launch Divas Doing Good with their first fundraiser event "Green is the New Black" at Waterfront at Aloha Tower. There will be food, fashion shows, prize drawings such as Hawaiian Airlines tickets, a silent auction loaded with the trendiest restaurant and boutique GCs, a DJ spinning the hottest tunes and live entertainment by Ben Vegas and Maila Gibson.
For this event, The Wedding Café is partnering with Kanu Hawaii (www.kanuhawaii.org), a non-profit committed to making Hawaii a better place for future generations. A portion of all proceeds will go to support Kanu Hawaii's movement for Island Style Activism.
Divas Doing Good is her latest project, and one look at their mission says it all.
Divas Doing Good is a movement to raise awareness, to educate and nurture women, and to garner community support towards local, national, and international causes in hopes of building a brighter, more peaceful tomorrow for future generations. Our efforts will empower women to LOOK good, FEEL good, and DO good.Help us launch Divas Doing Good in style, and support Kanu in the process. Hope to see you there!
