Lyon Arboretum "Trail Sweepers" hike the trails to help maintain trail safety - If you like to walk, and crave an experience vastly more rewarding than trying to dodge traffic and hard concrete sidewalks, reroute your daily hike to the Arboretum, and help remove dropped palm fronds and leafy debris from the trails. Make it a brisk walk or a leisurely one; it's up to you. All we ask is that you stop to clear small debris to make the trail safer for the next visitor.

8. Lyon Arboretum 1st Saturday Work Party - On the first Saturday of every month, 8:30 - 12:00 noon, join Lyon Arboretum staff for a morning work party. Spend the morning weeding in remote areas of the Arboretum, helping to remove invasive species or repair trails. Come prepared with sturdy shoes, rain gear and drinking water. Arboretum collections include roughly 5,000 different species of Native Hawaiian, Polynesian Introductions, and Tropical Plants, many of which are endangered or at risk in their native habitats. Volunteer gardeners work closely with Arboretum staff to maintain these special collections
