Virtual Caseworkers- Must be 18+ (to administer financial aid).

Great for those interested in social work, working directly with the public, and those who want to work virtually. The caseload is low, but this is a critical need position. Helps to follow up on DAT (Disaster Action Team) calls, directs clients to different entities for assistance, etc. Caseworkers are the ones that stay with the client until their case is closed. They’re the third line of contact with the Red Cross.

The process goes as follows: The Duty officer receives a call from 1st responders (police or fire department) and takes down all pertinent information. They then take that information and relay it to the DAT team that is on call at that time. The DAT team are 2nd responders to events like home fires or flooding and other small scale, local disasters. They assist the client(s) on location, and provide comfort, care and food/housing as needed. Then the caseworkers come in and continue to follow-up with the clients, providing financial and other assistance until the client reaches a point where we are no longer needed. They direct them to local entities for assistance as needed, answer questions etc.

Approx. 10 hours of training for base level, up to 20 hours of training for higher level casework. Please DO NOT apply if you’re unable to complete training.
