Celebrating 20 Years of Community Impact

Kanu Hawaiʻi 20th Anniversary Celebration
Thursday, June 25, 2026 · 5:30 – 9:00 PM · Hoʻokupu Center at Kupu

40 Seeds Planted. 20 Years Grown.

In 2006, it began as a talk story session. About forty friends and friends of friends, asking what they could do about Hawaiʻi's future. They decided to start with themselves. From those first commitments grew everything Kanu Hawaiʻi is today: a way for everyday people to take action for the place they love.

Disaster Response Since 2018

Kauaʻi floods, volcanic eruptions, COVID, the Lahaina fires, Kona Low — we've mobilized community energy during every major disaster.

✈️

Responsible Tourism Partnership

We partner with HTA to direct thousands of visitors and tens of thousands of service hours toward community impact across the islands every year.

🎓

Department of Education Partnership

We officially partner with HIDOE to engage public school students in volunteer service opportunities across every island in Hawaiʻi.

🌱

Student Leadership
