Celebrating 20 Years of Community Impact
40 Seeds Planted. 20 Years Grown.
In 2006, it began as a talk story session. About forty friends and friends of friends, asking what they could do about Hawaiʻi's future. They decided to start with themselves. From those first commitments grew everything Kanu Hawaiʻi is today: a way for everyday people to take action for the place they love.
What You're Supporting
Hawaiʻi's Largest Volunteer Platform
Over 458 nonprofit and community partners list their opportunities on our platform, connecting volunteers to real action across every island.
Disaster Response Since 2018
Kauaʻi floods, volcanic eruptions, COVID, the Lahaina fires, Kona Low — we've mobilized community energy during every major disaster.
Responsible Tourism Partnership
We partner with HTA to direct thousands of visitors and tens of thousands of service hours toward community impact across the islands every year.
Department of Education Partnership
We officially partner with HIDOE to engage public school students in volunteer service opportunities across every island in Hawaiʻi.
Student Leadership
Our Pledge to Our Keiki student ambassador program — now in its third year — drives thousands of service hours and real youth leadership.
Community Solutions
Tens of thousands could lose SNAP benefits and insurance due to federal policy changes. We're actively building community-level solutions.
