Pahoa Lava Zone museum is nonprofit 501 c 3 organization that is focused on visitor and resident education relating to impacts to lower Puna and the Big Island caused by the 2018 and 2014 Kilauea eruptions. We have a museum space located in the heart of historic Pahoa and are always looking for folks to join or docent team. We are an all volunteer organization and are open 7 days a week. Please consider volunteering as a docent either on a weekly or monthly basis. We alos could use administrative help especially in grant writing and community outreach.

Provide public, historic, scientific, and educational information to tourists and local residents regarding the geology and impacts of hawaii islands volcanic events for the benefit of the Pahoa community and to promote responsible tourism in the lower Puna district. It is also the mission to promote the well being of the community of Puna and the Big Island.
