Wetland Restoration Workday at Kāko’o ʻŌiwi

Kāko’o ʻŌiwi

Wetland restoration workdays occur every Tuesday & Wednesday from 8:30 am – 12 pm until Nov 29, 2023. These workdays involve removal of invasive plants, out-planting native plant species, and clearing waterways. Please bring clothes and covered shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty in. It is recommended that you wear long pants or leggings. Please bring with you water and sun protection as well. If you have any open cuts, we advise to stay out of the water and mud.

Parking: We are located at 46-406 Kamehameha Highway Kaneohe HI 96744 but please enter through the Kealohi gate. As you are driving towards Kahaluu on Kamehameha Hwy, drive over the Heeia bridge, you’ll see the Heeia fishpond on your right and the mountains on your left. Right after the bridge, you’ll see a gate on your left-hand side right before the bend turn left there for parking.

About the organizer

Restoring cultural connection between the land and our Ohana
At Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi, we’re committed to providing sustainably farmed fresh produce. We’ve been working towards this goal since 2006, and we continue to strive towards a future where people can have meaningful cultural connections with the land in ways that are both educational and rewarding. Our Poi Mill, which broke ground in 2020, is just one example of how we’re making headway towards our goal.
