Aloha ‘Āina

The Māla Hoʻoulu ʻIke programʻs current mission is to indulge and inspire the community of Hawaiian Homesteaders and others with agricultural opportunities; in order to grow an educational mindset of a self-sustainable life for their ʻohana and the community. The proposed project will work to increase the number and quality of educational agricultural opportunities made available on island by providing an array of workshops to Hawaiian Homesteaders and others interested in growing this mindset. The project will also entail acquiring the appropriate equipment to fulfill this goal. Each volunteer day will be influenced by the Hawaiian moon calendar, and will be a combination of informative & hands-on learning that can create a successful and self sustainable community. These workshops will be fully staffed and supported, as well as administered by qualified personell. The vision of this program is to create and sustain a community garden that would promote self-sustainability, create confident farmers, and provide a source that links us back to our Hawaiian culture.

All activities will be located outdoors in rain or shine. Keiki to Kupuna are welcomed!
