Are you passionate about creating inclusive experiences and making a tangible difference in the community? Travel Visions Aloha for the Blind (TVA) is looking for a dedicated volunteer Event Lead to help plan, coordinate, and execute accessible events for the blind and visually impaired (BVI) community on Oʻahu.
This is a volunteer leadership role reporting directly to and working closely with the President, with opportunities to develop skills in event management, nonprofit operations, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution
• Develop event logistics, including scheduling, venue selection, and transportation coordination.
• Scout potential event locations, ensuring accessibility and safety for BVI participants.
• Coordinate event setup, management, and breakdown, troubleshooting challenges in real time.
• Serve as the primary point of contact during events, ensuring smooth operations.
Venue & Program Research
• Identify and evaluate new venues and event opportunities that align with TVA’s mission.
• Conduct on-site visits to assess locations for accessibility and suitability.
• Initiate contact with venue managers, business owners, and community partners to discuss potential collaborations.
• Research creative, adaptive activities that could enhance TVA’s offerings.
Volunteer Coordination & Participant Engagement
• Assist in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for events.
• Conduct pre-event briefings to ensure volunteers are well-prepared to assist BVI participants.
• Foster positive relationships with attendees, ensuring an engaging and empowering experience.
• Gather feedback from participants and volunteers to inform future improvements.
Community Outreach & Networking
• Represent TVA at networking events, community meetings, and collaborative efforts with other nonprofits.
• Build relationships with local businesses, venues, and organizations to expand TVA’s reach.
• Assist in outreach efforts to raise awareness and encourage participation in TVA programs.
