Ka’ehu Beach Cleanup (Maui)

SHARKastics

Please join us on the 4th Sunday of every month: let’s keep Ka’ehu free of marine debris and research what washes ashore.  This beautiful sandy/rocky coastline gets inundated with marine debris from all over the Pacific and locally.  These items can be deadly ingestion and entanglement hazards to animals of all sizes.  Come lend a hand for a few hours of fun and exercise!

About the organizer

SHARKastics has been “taking a bite out of marine debris since 2003” around Maui Nui and beyond!  Besides conducting frequent coral reef cleanups, we spearhead our 4th Sunday of every month Ka’ehu Cleanups and compare these research results with what we find at Makamaka’ole twice per year.  Sharing the data we collect allows us to apply our results to local legislative actions that encourage more sustainable practices compared to plastic-based options that are so pervasive in our throw-away society.  We’re volunteer-based, with opportunities for all ages to join us!
