Foster – Fostering is one of the most important volunteer opportunities available. A foster volunteer takes a shelter pet into their home to care for them, train them, and ultimately help KHS find the animal a positive outcome. KHS supplies everything for the animal and supplies all medical care, as well as supports the foster volunteer. To learn more about fostering, click here.
Volunteer Onsite – We need help cleaning kennels, walking dogs, feeding, enriching, and training every day. We need help with tasks as simple as doing the laundry, and tasks which require a little more creativity like writing bios for the animals’ adoption profiles.
Book Tails – Book Tails is our volunteer opportunity for children ages 7-13. We encourage children to come in every second and fourth Saturday of the month to read to the shelter cats. Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To learn more about Book Tails, click here.
Volunteer Offsite – On occasion, we have opportunities for volunteers to take on special projects, help with events, or help at our BloomingTails Thrift Shop located in the Puhi Industrial Center.
Field Trips for Shelter Dogs – If you are unable to attend an orientation because you are visiting for a short time, you may be interested in taking a shelter dog out for the day. To learn more about the field trip program, click here.
