Pacific Birth Collective

What We Do
Our organization is focused on 3 pillars: (1) to provide birth, wellness and sexuality education to the community, including programs and workshops for high risk populations, under-served populations and teens; (2) to provided a structure for island-wide professionals (including, but not limited to, midwives, OBs, nurses, doulas, massage therapists, family therapists, acupuncturists, lactation consultants, and photographers) to network and share and connect with regular meetings, trainings, online directory and working committees; and (3) to provide structure to advocate for birth and wellness choices in our local hospital system, as well as legislation concerning options in birth in Maui County and Statewide.
Given the recent devastating Lahaina wildfires, we are also focusing on providing resources, to the best of our ability and knowledge to help our Maui ‘Ohana to find and connect with community resources.
Who We Are
We are a community-based professional collective growing a network of service providers and island families dedicated to education, support, and advocacy for birth & wellness choices across Hawai’i.
In the spring of 2016, a group of doulas, midwives, midwives in training, childbirth educators and passionate birth advocates met in the living room of one their homes to talk about how we could better serve our community by building a network of professionals in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. From that seed grew the launch of our first annual Labor Day Event in September 2016. There were many collaborative meetings discussing mission, vision, and what our 5 and 10 year goals were for a collective. The immediate need, the one we still serve, is creating a space for the island community to access resources and professionals to help them through the journey of pregnancy, birth and post-partum. Our other main goal is to provide networking & educational opportunities to the professionals providing services to the community.
