What We Do

The University of Hawai’i Office of Sustainability (UHOS) functions as a backbone organization to enhance existing sustainability work across all UH campuses, and to provide coordination capacity for campuses to share resources with each other to accelerate action to strengthen the environmental, social, cultural, and economic health of our islands’ communities.

Who We Are

The University of Hawai‘i Office of Sustainability (UHOS) is a UH systemwide office focused at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa campus. Our office is established under the Executive Sustsainability Policy 4.202 under the Vice President of Adminstration’s purview.  UHOS consists of a small team of UH staff and student hires focused on Net Zero Energy transformation, waste reduction, systemwide campus academic and social sustainability initiatives, and community engagement.  Our office in the process of expanding our team and scope to address water conservation, green procurement, and living laboratory initiatives.
